Mar. 5--HAMILTON, Ga.--The Harris County Commission heard impassioned pleas Tuesday night from friends and foes of a $250 million development that would include a 100-home community for abused and neglected children.
Developer Donald Whitney of Smyrna described the project as a lifelong dream and a showcase attraction about five miles west of Callaway Gardens.
"I believe with all my heart that I was led here for a reason," said Whitney, who is known in the Atlanta area as a designer and manager of 14 upscale health clubs.
