BB&T to Create Wealth-Management Division Based in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Jul. 30--BB&T Corp. is aiming to raise its profile among affluent Americans by creating a wealth-management division that combines its personal trust and private financial-services departments.

The bank said yesterday that the division's headquarters would be based in Winston-Salem. The division could have as many as 18 employees in Winston-Salem and the Triad and 312 overall in BB&T's 12-state territory, mostly in Raleigh and Wilson, said Steve Wiggs, who was named as the division's manager.

Trust services are geared toward helping individuals manage their wealth and estates.
