Sep. 16--IN SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, summer is supposed to be a hot time for tourism. This year, hoteliers and others who depend heavily on out-of-town guests said it was anything but sizzling.
Spring hotel occupancy numbers appeared to be fairly solid, but June, July and August were sluggish. For June, occupancy was down 1.6 percent, and July dipped to 3.1 percent. August numbers have yet to be released.
