Football fans have a simple choice this year.
Electronic Arts and Sega are the only two major developers with professional football games this season, and each company is making a different pitch to gamers.
EA's latest Madden title, "Madden NFL 2005," is out for the major consoles, with a PC version on the way. But its Xbox version is the most interesting because it has added online play this year.
Previously, EA's games were playable online only with Sony's PlayStation 2 but now are also online-compatible with Microsoft's Xbox Live service.
On the Xbox, "Madden" looks great, and there are so many play modes and options that only serious football fans will care about most of them.
