FORT WORTH, Texas _ A slightly dislocated shoulder isn't expected to keep running back Adrian Peterson, the country's most-heralded true freshman, from playing in Oklahoma's season opener Saturday against Bowling Green. So says Sooners coach Bob Stoops.
"We believe so," Stoops said during Monday's Big 12 football coach's conference call. "He's been knocked around some in practice and running inside drills as well as team drills, though he hasn't been in a full scrimmage. To this point, everything where he's getting knocked around, he's handled it well and doesn't seem to have any effects from it."
Peterson, who rushed for 2,960 yards and 32 touchdowns in 252 carries as a senior at Palestine (Texas) High School, dislocated his left shoulder during Oklahoma's first scrimmage Aug. 15.
