FORT WORTH, Texas _ Obviously, the Dallas Cowboys improved themselves in many areas from 2003, but areas of concern remain. Big areas. How the Cowboys fare this season will depend on how well they answer these questions:
1. Can the secondary withstand the storm?
One of their star safeties, Darren Woodson, is out until who knows when with a back injury. Nobody knows if Tony Dixon is a capable backup. Everybody knows it is thinner than thin behind him. And safety help is going to be needed, a lot, considering finding a right cornerback has not proved to be as easy as plugging Pete Hunter in. Oh yeah, and they see Randy Moss in Week 1. How well defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is able to scheme around this minefield until Woodson returns or a right corner steps up is going to go a long way in determining how the Cowboys fare in 2004.
2. Who is going to be the right tackle?
Having Vinny Testaverde's blind side safe and secure is not enough. Just because he can see the defensive ends coming free off the right side does not make it OK. And the Cowboys' offensive line is shaping up to be a little light on the right. Nobody has grabbed the starting right tackle spot. Torrin Tucker is making too many mistakes. Jacob Rogers has not been as physical as needed. ...
