Las Vegas Board OKs Application

The Las Vegas City Schools board followed the orders of a judge and unanimously approved a new charter school Friday.

"We're hoping for a good relationship," said Eric Winkel, a founder of the Bridge Academy.

The Las Vegas school board, with the superintendent's support, had rejected an application from the Bridge Academy on two earlier occasions.

Even so, state Superintendent of Education Michael Davis and a state district court judge ordered Las Vegas to accept the school's charter application.
