MINNEAPOLIS, April 1 (UPI) -- U.S. researchers said men who have radiation therapy for prostate cancer have a 70 percent higher risk of rectal cancer than men who have surgery instead.
The University of Minnesota study, the first to quantify rectal cancer risk associated with prostate radiation, is published in Friday's American Gastroenterological Association journal Gastroenterology. More than 85,000 men, ages 18 to 80, were included in the study.
