Mar. 29--TALLAHASSEE -- Florida students who take several classes more than they need to graduate from state colleges and universities would pay steeper tuition under a bill unanimously approved by the state Senate Committee on Education Monday.
SB 2236 would require students who took more than 115 percent of the credit hours required for their majors to pay out-of-state tuition rates -- which are more than six times as high as in-state rates.
