Harindra de Silva doesn't stray from the S&P 500 much.
All of his holdings can be found in the benchmark. And his $58.4 million Analytic Disciplined Equity Fund keeps sector weightings in line with the index.
Where de Silva and his three co-managers differ from the benchmark is in their individual bets.
"The weightings in the fund are substantially different from our benchmark," said de Silva, 44.
He says he runs the fund the same way he handles his firm's large pension plans and separate accounts.
"We try to offer slightly better returns through active management than they'd get investing in the S&P 500 directly," he said.
