Mar. 27--The Opa-locka City Commission voted down two resolutions that aimed to "formalize" an easement and a road adjustment for a four-story property hailed as a catalyst for injecting business into the downtown area.
The measures failed because of a 2-1 vote; three favorable votes from the five-member commission were necessary for passage. Mayor Joseph Kelley and Commissioner Rose Tydus voted in favor. Vice Mayor Terence Pinder opposed the move.
Commissioner Timothy Holmes recused himself, citing litigation between him and the property, and left the room. Commissioner Dorothy "Dottie" Johnson also excused herself from the...
