Mar. 28--Even for the immigration services sector, which has grown accustomed to the proliferation of unscrupulous and cunning businesspeople, Fidelina Cuevas was in a league of her own, state officials say.
The Texas attorney general will try to convince a Dallas jury this week that Cuevas should be barred from providing immigration advice in any capacity and should reimburse hundreds of defrauded clients.
"There seems to be a whole industry out there that targets immigrants, scamming them out of millions of dollars per year," Attorney General Greg Abbott said. "It is a serious problem and a growing problem."
