Mar. 25--More than 13,000 pre-owned homes for sale in North Texas last year had something in common: They were foreclosures.
"There are so many of these houses on the market that we now have three or four agents who do nothing but foreclosure sales," said Bill Sabino, the manager at Re/Max Premier Group Realtors. "The inventory of foreclosed homes has continued to grow."
Last year, 13,049 homes were sold at foreclosure auction in the four-county Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to a study by Foreclosure Listing Service. The houses had an average debt of about $145,970.
About 1,000 were sold directly to investors; the rest were listed for resale by lenders. And that's in a market where 83,770 condos and single-family homes were sold last year.
