Nowadays there are so many product recalls we may not be able to print all of them in CHOICE. For comprehensive recall information go to the Federal Treasury website: www.recalls.gov.au. If you don't have web access, call the Consumer Safety Unit on (02) 6263 2747.

Companies often rent 1800 numbers for a couple of months after a recall is announced. If the number given is no longer operating, phone the manufacturer or retailer direct.

FOOD: Glass Jar Pasta Company has recalled baskets from the hampers:

* Hot Chocolate for Two (product code 17871174).

* Tea for Two (17871181).

* Coffee for Two (17871228).

* Festive Delights Hamper (35209867).

The hampers were sold exclusively through Target and Target Country stores between October 2004 and January 2005.

The problem: The baskets from the hampers may contain the larvae of foreign insects that are of quarantine concern.

What to do: Place the basket (without its contents) in a secured plastic bag and:

* Return it to any Target or Target Country store for a refund; or

* Treat the basket yourself by placing the bag and basket in a freezer for 14 days; or

* Burn the basket in a safe manner, observing any local fire restrictions and regulations.
