CARSON CITY -- A judge rejected a preliminary motion to toss out a Nevada Power Co. appeal of a big cut in its $922 million rate increase request, saying Thursday he wants a full hearing in the case.
Carson District Judge Bill Maddox scheduled an Oct. 17 hearing on the Las Vegas-based utility's bid to get the $437 million that the state Public Utilities Commission slashed from its rate increase request.
Nevada Power advised Maddox that it intends to file a motion to depose people in the attorney general's Bureau of Consumer Protection office and at a power trading company about the way the state agency obtained records of electronic messages about a proposed power purchase.
