Mar. 15--AUGUSTA -- One is a bank loan officer. Another is vice president for a large printing company. A third, a financial consultant with a national firm.

The trio have been friends, neighbors, roommates and even sports competitors in the past.

At 23, Craig Garofalo, Jonathan Tardiff and Adam Dunbar are well on their way to successful careers -- holding college degrees and upper-level jobs, buying homes in central Maine where they were raised, and working with civic groups and community organizations.

Most of their high school friends are either still out of state or seeking entry-level jobs back home in central Maine.

Garofalo, of Augusta, graduated from Hall-Dale High School in 1999 and earned a business degree from Babson College, Wellesley, Mass., in 2003.
