Mar. 3--NEW BRUNSWICK -- Hub City historians are criticizing the 30-story tower planned for the corner of Somerset Street and Easton Avenue, saying the project would rip a particularly historic panel from the city's urban patchwork.
The Gateway Building would replace a stretch of buildings along Somerset Street, including the three-story brick building housing Neubies Restaurant, AllPage and Vagabond Tours and two converted residential structures containing E-Clips and First Class notes.
Members of the New Brunswick Historical Association are set to meet with Mayor James Cahill today to air their concerns.
