Mar. 1--LEXINGTON -- Oglethorpe County's brand-new zoning ordinance should be thrown out, according to a lawsuit filed by a North Carolina corporation that plans to open a large quarry in the county.

In a lawsuit filed in Oglethorpe County Superior Court, lawyers for Raleigh-based Martin Marietta Materials say the Oglethorpe County Commission failed to give adequate public notice about which of several versions of the zoning ordinance it was planning to adopt and failed to make a copy of the proposed ordinance publicly available.
