Feb. 26--There won't be cake in the conference room, farewell handshakes or any other customary fanfare that typically marks the retirement of a longtime employee.
Instead, Billy Campbell's 17-year career with the city of Southlake will quietly conclude Tuesday.
Three months ago, when Mr. Campbell announced his March 1 retirement, few would have predicted such an unremarkable ending for someone who served in the high-profile positions of city manager and police chief.
