Feb. 28--Its size alone makes Rochester Village a challenge for a property manager.

"I'm from a town of 1,500," said Scott Eggert, who operates the northwest side complex for Lanmark Property Advisors of Rochester. "You're managing a property that's larger than your own hometown."

It's like a 2,000-resident city-within-a-city, said Eggert, a veteran property manager.

While the upkeep of 402 units in more than 40 buildings is a big responsibility for his nine-worker staff, Eggert honed in immediately a problem that couldn't be repaired with tools. He saw an image problem to fix.

Today's atmosphere, he said, is a world of difference from when Lanmark assumed management of Rochester Village at 2015 41st N.W. in mid-2004....
