Feb. 28--The Rhode Island Convention Center Authority's board of directors is expected to vote this morning on the sale of the state-owned Westin Providence to The Procaccianti Group.
After two months of negotiations on a final purchase-and-sale agreement on the hotel, the basic points of the contract have been ironed out and it is ready to go before the nine-member board, said James McCarvill, the authority's executive director.
The Convention Center Authority's board was scheduled to meet last Thursday to discuss the deal, but board Chairman David Duffy postponed the meeting after Governor Carcieri said he had concerns about the hotel sale.
