Feb. 28--Louise Dean knows of what she speaks and sells.
The Janesville woman was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in July 2003. Six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation followed.
Shortly thereafter, she had a colostomy, a procedure in which an opening is made in the abdomen and the colon is connected to it. Stool passes through a stoma to a collection bag on the abdomen.
But Dean wasn't happy with either the skin irritation or appeal of her ostomy pouch.
So she teamed up with a friend and former coworker at the Boston Store to develop an ostomy duvet that covers the bag.
The result for Dean and Marjorie Needham is a fledgling Janesville company, Color by DNF, which started marketing and producing the colorful...
