Feb. 28--A state agricultural official says Jefferson County has positioned itself well to meet the challenges of a changing dairy industry.
Paul F. "Rick" Zimmerman, deputy commissioner for economic development with the state Department of Agriculture and Markets, addressed members of the Jefferson County Agricultural Development Corp. during the agency's annual meeting held Friday at the Partridge Berry Inn.
"From my perspective, it's a great time to be in agriculture," he said. "Jefferson County is a tremendous testament to that statement."
