Feb. 28--As fraternities go, they don't get much more exclusive than the Alpha Pi chapter of Epsilon Delta Nu.
The Puget Sound-area branch is the sole chapter of the professional mortuary fraternity in Washington state. Its members, all six of them, are the only licensed embalmers of African American descent in Washington.
So chapter president James Thomason, an embalmer at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, understates it a little when he says, "You can get us all in the same room." In reality, you could get them all in the same minivan.
