The train is leaving the station. Get on the platform, or get left behind.
That's the message Intel has for the approximately 5,000 software programmers expected to gather Tuesday through Thursday in San Francisco at the biannual Intel Developer Forum.
Intel will focus on its latest strategy: to create platforms. It's bundling a microprocessor -- the brains of a computer -- with a chip set that adds features such as video, a communications chip and software.
No. 1 chipmaker Intel scored big with its only platform to date, Centrino. It debuted in 2001. Centrino gave notebook PCs wireless Internet access...
