FONTANA, Calif. _ Long before coming to California Speedway for Sunday's Auto Club 500, Greg Biffle was convinced his Ford was going to be so good he could win the race with relative ease.
Halfway through the afternoon, however, he figured he had no shot.
He was wrong _ on both accounts.
Biffle did win, picking up his second victory in the past three Nextel Cup points events. But it most certainly wasn't easy.
After Biffle tested his No.16 Ford here in January, his confidence soared. His car was fast and he liked the track, and after practicing on Friday and qualifying fifth fastest Saturday he predicted he'd be the leader by Lap 5 on Sunday.
