TORONTO _ For all that the Lakers have said about improving their defense since Coach Rudy Tomjanovich stepped down, they made a further commitment Sunday _ not that it was enough to win.
The visiting team in the NBA gets to choose which end of the court it plays, and under Tomjanovich, the Lakers always elected to spend the second half shooting in front of their bench - because Tomjanovich believed it was more important for him to assist in offensive execution at crunchtime.
