FONTANA, Calif. _ Greg Biffle believed all along he had the best car for the Auto Club 500 at California Speedway on Sunday.
And he was right.
Biffle started fifth but predicted he'd be in the lead by Lap 5. He was right about that, too, but before winning the season's second Nextel Cup race he had to rally from being caught on the tail end of the lead lap because of the timing of a caution flag.
No problem. By a restart on Lap 222 he'd worked his way back up to second.
On Lap 228, he swept past Roush Racing teammate Kurt Busch to take the lead and remained in front from there.
Jimmie Johnson charged to finish second on the final lap, with Busch third, Jamie McMurray fourth and Carl Edwards making a late run to edge Kevin Harvick for fifth.
