Feb. 27--Victoria County commissioners will consider asking the state Legislature to cut the school tax burden on local taxpayers but not to lower the cap on property appraisal increases.
Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at the county courthouse, 115 N. Bridge St. State lawmakers, now meeting in Austin, are expected to take up the questions of school funding and an appraisal cap.
Commissioners will discuss passing a resolution that would urge the Legislature help local taxpayers by once again paying "the state's historic share of support for public education." …
