Feb. 26--The proposed $10 billion retail merger of Federated and May Department stores moved briskly toward becoming a reality yesterday.
The board of directors of Federated, owner of Macy's and Bloomingdale's, sat down yesterday to discuss a final price for May, owner of Lord & Taylor, according to published reports. May's board is expected to meet over the weekend to consider the offer.
