INDIANAPOLIS _ It appears Vernon Carey will be given the chance to crack the Dolphins' starting lineup at left tackle.

A source said Friday that Carey will likely open the first minicamp this spring at left tackle to determine whether he can man the position. The source said Carey wasn't locked into the spot and ultimately could switch sides with right tackle John St. Clair, who had expressed reservations to last year's coaching staff about playing left tackle.
