Feb. 26--Shares in Manchester United moved ahead strongly yesterday as Malcolm Glazer's expensive team of accountants, brokers and lawyers quit Old Trafford after poring over the club's books and completing due diligence.
While his advisers decamp to London, Florida-based Glazer and son Joel, who is leading the bid, will consider their next move.
ManU ended the day 7 1/4p higher at 280p as the odds on a takeover shortened. But anyone expecting a snap bid will be disappointed as Joel is convalescing in hospital after having his appendix removed. On medical advice, he will not be able to fly back to the UK for at least two weeks.
Sources close to the process reckon Glazer and his broker Rothschild will take at least a week to crunch the numbers and …
