The 38th annual Vodacom Lesotho Sun Roof of Africa, the last round of the South African National Off-road Championship for motorcycle and quad competitors, took place November 24-27 in Lesotho (La-sue-to), a small mountain kingdom landlocked by South Africa.

The Roof of Africa is traditionally known for bringing rain to the people of Lesotho. One could easily see the 2004 Roof of Africa event was a successful one as, is so many times the case, huge rain clouds formed as the event finished. The inhabitants of Lesotho don't mind much if the riders and their thunderous four-wheeled machines ride on their lands as long as the event brings rain to the Roof of Africa.
The 2004 Roof of Africa event will be remembered as one of the most difficult events in years. And stories, regarding various experiences in the Lesotho Mountains, will be shared between the competitors for years to come. The quad competitors will also remember it as the second-consecutive year that they got lost on the first day of the main race. Early in the morning, the riders ended up on the motorcycle route and were eventually rerouted to the main service point where the race was restarted.
