Pear growers say industry is losing its appeal.

Feb. 25--Not only do Rogue Valley pear growers need to entice consumers in new ways, but even as innovative products are test-marketed, more lines need to be developed.

Growers may have heard the tune before, but they got another verse Thursday at Skyline Plaza in Medford.

Pear growers have struggled with diminishing profit margins and prices that don't budge for years. Foreign competition doesn't make it any easier. But it's up to the growers and marketers to revitalize the industry.
