Feb. 25--An employee suspected of leaking confidential data has been placed on leave by the California Independent System Operator, the non-profit traffic cop for the statewide network of electricity-transmission lines, while the ISO investigates.

"We want to take all precautionary steps to protect the integrity of the energy market," Ken Wiseman, chairman of the ISO board, said in a news release.

ISO engineers have operated the state's transmission grid since 1998. In that capacity, they ordered the rolling blackouts that became the signature event …
