Feb. 23--J.C. Penney Co. will wrap up a stronger-than-expected 2004 on Thursday, when it reports year-end earnings. And it is kicking off 2005 with new designer partners, new labels and brand extensions throughout the store.
Some of the new women's apparel offerings are a direct result of in-house researchers' in-depth interviews with 900 shoppers.
"Women were shopping at Penney but not finding clothing that fit their lifestyles -- dressy casual clothes," said Penney spokesman Tim Lyons.
