FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Right-hander Jorge Julio, Baltimore's closer for three seasons, has a strained right forearm that might cancel his availability for Opening Day.
Julio, the third Oriole to have 20-plus-save seasons in three consecutive years, has an inflamed flexor muscle. He will take anti-inflammatory medication and be on a monitored throwing program for three weeks.
"This will set him back," Executive Vice President Jim Beattie said, "but there's still a fair chance that he could be ready Opening Day."
