Feb. 21--If you think your homeowners insurance covers flooding damage, last week's pipe burst in Queens should serve as a watershed warning.
As dozens of families in Astoria whose possessions were swept away last Wednesday now know, flood insurance is optional -- and the vast majority of homeowners don't get it.
