Feb. 21--For nearly two decades, gay and lesbian visitors have helped fuel Miami Beach's tourist economy. Now some believe high hotel prices are beginning to take some of the sheen off the rainbow crowd's hottest destination.
"There's definitely been a noticeable migration up north to Fort Lauderdale," said clothing designer Richard Shon, who co-owns Whittall & Shon, a South Beach clothing shop. "Ironically, before South Beach, the scene was Fort Lauderdale. It has to do with economics.
