CHICAGO _ Coach Stan Van Gundy confirmed Monday the Heat has begun working with Alonzo Mourning and the free-agent center passed his team physical.
"His physical was good," Van Gundy said. "He's working out and working on his conditioning and really trying to push that up."
The most intriguing aspect of the impending reunion is that the Heat apparently will wait until after Thursday's 3 p.m. NBA trading deadline to add its former captain.
With the Heat at the NBA maximum of 15 players under contract, the delay in adding the 35-year-old shot-blocking center gives the team maximum leverage.
