Feb. 18--Veteran CarePlus employees were still sprouting broad smiles Thursday after opening checks giving them as much as a year of salary -- a bonus from owner Mike Fernandez, who passed along $26 million to more than 1,000 employees when he closed on the sale of the Medicare HMO to Humana.
