On the very last day of the Paris ready-to-wear, Alber Elbaz at Lanvin defined the entire spring/summer 2005 season as I saw it. Lanvin was classical, elegant, and modern; an ode to the essence of fine French dressmaking. These were alluring clothes with those special details that make a woman want to feast on their chic.
Elbaz had to prepare his show with his sketching hand in a sling, following a bad fall in London. Somehow, this dynamo of sophistication made his rounds and fittings with the one arm metaphorically tied behind his back.
