Sort of . . . disheveled royalty," says Malia Jones, groping for the right words to describe the Rick Owens jacket she wore for Vogue on a Southern California beach. Jones, a celebrated surfer, adored the jacket for its offhand, upscale-vagabond air. "The way it fit made it seem like part of my body." Styled white-on-white with shorts and a couple of layered tanks, the jacket looked a lot less hard-edged than it had on the runway. "Lately I've become more interested in clothes that will last," she says, "instead of just being cute and then gone."
Jones spent last year at the University of Southern California studying filmmaking, and though she will indulge in a brief moment of red-carpet fantasy-"Chloe or Stella!" she says ...
