Susan Criner is waiting anxiously for the weather in Houston to cooperate so she can wear the Lanvin gray, sheer wool dress and coat that have just arrived at her doorstep. Criner, who owns Gulf Coast Entertainment, a business that arranges musical programs for corporate galas, anticipates other fall 2004 deliveries as well: a column of black silk by Michael Vollbracht for Bill Blass; the box-pleat skirt and cashmere sweaters Jean Paul Gaultier created for Hermes; and, if she makes it off the wait list, a fuchsia cocktail frock by Tom Ford.
