Feb. 26--House Majority Leader Dick Armey, defending President Bush's tax-cut plan Saturday in Dallas, dismissed concerns that scrapping the federal estate tax would cost Texas $300 million a year.
Texas is one of 35 states with an estate tax that piggybacks on the federal version. State estate-tax revenue would vanish if Congress repeals the federal levy as Mr. Bush has proposed.
Mr. Armey, a Flower Mound Republican, said the solution is up to Texas and other states.
