Feb. 26--LOCAL GROUPS GAIN CONTROL OF FIRST TUESDAY: When Yazam, a New York company with Israeli ties, sold the First Tuesday brand and licenses to the First Tuesday network of local groups, the news hardly registered anywhere but New York, London and maybe Jerusalem.
But, in fact, Hugo De Stoop, one of the three partners who founded First Tuesday-i-Americas group, was one of the 10 network representatives who negotiated the deal. The expectation is that local ownerships should bring about more collaboration between the 110 cities that are now part of the global Internet/technology networking group that aims to bring together entrepreneurs and new venture investors.
The 10 network reps were elected last August to try and negotiate a fair relationship between the city groups and Yazam, which had purchased the First Tuesday trademark from the organization's founders.
