Feb. 27--AUSTIN, Texas--The best way to bring down high natural gas prices is to produce more natural gas, not to regulate utility companies more aggressively, industry officials told the Texas Railroad Commission on Monday.
"The current high prices are the result of market forces, and these same market prices will also work to lower those prices as supplies develop and demand adjusts," said Mark Borer of Duke Energy Field Services.
A combination of cold weather and soaring gas prices sent utility bills soaring in January and February, with many people getting bills double and triple their usual winter bills.
