KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. _ On a toasty Sunday that sent four men's seeds packing off early for the clay court season, Serena Williams needed more than an hour to get her game straight and avoid being an upset victim on the women's side.
She finally gathered herself at 3-3 in the second set to turn back Iroda Tulyaganova of Uzbekistan 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 and set up a greatly anticipated round of 16 match Monday at 1 against Kim Clijsters, the strong stroking Belgian she beat in the controversial final at Indian Wells eight days earlier.
