PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. _ The lost look on Andrew Magee's face walking up the 18th fairway Friday showed you what the twin terror finishing holes at The Players Championship can do to a man's psyche.
First, Magee couldn't believe it when he airmailed a 9-iron over the No. 17 island green at the TPC at Sawgrass Stadium Course. Though it's the largest green on the golf course, and the hole measures only 137 yards, the putting surface looks roughly the size of a manhole cover in the middle of all that water.
After making double bogey, Magee couldn't quite compose himself at the 18th tee when he saw the sea of water bordering the left side of the fairway. He yanked his tee shot into the pond. The nightmare wasn't over. He knocked his approach...
