Mar. 8--SALT LAKE CITY--The new CEO of Big-D Corp., Bill Smith, has a big challenge ahead of him. How can he make one of Utah's most successful construction companies even more successful?

Smith's predecessor, Jack Livingood, took over the $20-million-a-year company from his father, Dee Livingood -- the original "D" in Big-D. Livingood then expanded the business to $200 million a year. It was founded in 1967.

"We've seen some real growth," Smith said, "and, yes, we'll see what we can do to take it to a $2 billion company," he told the Standard-Examiner. He added that 10 percent annual growth is a more realistic goal.
